It may sound cliche to some, I meet a lot of people whom I have photograph for their Engagement or Wedding and once I see my clients become comfortable and just let go, to forget that I am not even there. They just be themselves. Some people who are not usually comfortable having a strange person with a huge blackbox with a bazooka of a lens pointed straight at them may need a little coaxing. That is what happened when I photographed Bailee and Ryan for their Engagement. Their true selves came out and everything just becomes play time and goofing around, that's where the magic happens. This may be a little overdue but I am just motivated and excited to showcase so I can keep the momentum going. The series of photographs here are from their Engagement from last Summer. Yesterday, we just finished documenting their Wedding at Scripps SeaSide Forum in La Jolla, California I hope to post some sneak peeks next week. Meanwhile, please enjoy.
Time mainly does two things to me. It heals and breaks my heart. I honestly don't remember how your I felt on the day we found out you were coming to bring happiness to our lives. I am pretty sure I felt really happy but I don't quite remember all the other things that happened during the anticipation of you coming. I remember your Mommy doing most of the preparations, going to all her Doctor appointments, taking all her Vitamins, making sure she was taking all the necessary precautions to make sure that you are born strong and healthy. I do remember giving Mommy all the support and help that she needs throughout her pregnancy. On the day you were born, I have felt something that I have never experienced before. Pure Joy.
I felt scared when I first held you in my arms and then tears started to roll down my eyes. Pure Joy. I felt so Thankful and Blessed that you were born as healthy as can be. Holding you in my arms that day made me feel brave and strong. I have told myself that I will do anything and everything to make sure you are loved and that you feel safe throughout your life. And now Time is slowly breaking my heart. How did ten years already passed.
You are gradually becoming a young man. I hope that you will become a great man who will always follow your heart and make everyone you meet feel loved and safe. I hope all your dreams come true. I love you, my Son. Happy 10th Birthday.
So many things have happened in my life in the past year. I have been a bit behind on posting and sharing some of my work. This year is definitely going to be a challenge for me and I am staring to get back in to the grind and take a step closer to becoming a better Photographer for my Clients. So here is something that is definitely worth sharing.
Several months ago, my previous Clients, Joanne and Chris e-mailed me and announced that they are now expecting their first baby. Joanne was about 5 months when they asked if I could take some Maternity photos for them. I was so thrilled for them as I can definitely remember when we had my first Son. It was definitely an exciting time and a little scary but of course it was definitely worth it. There is nothing like having your first baby and having photos like these to look back at and share them with your children. Life is measured in Moments and these are definitely worth sharing.
When I first met Joanne and Chris at the Bridal Show in Del Mar, California; I knew that these two were meant to be together. They look great together and they compliment each other's life. From the day that I did their Engagement session at the Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook to their Wedding day at Loews Coronado, their life together has been full of blessings from their loving families, to their closest friends, and of course from God above. Here are some of beautiful moments of their journey in to becoming Man & Wife.
A few years back when I was starting out in photographing Weddings, I was asked to photograph a Hawaiian Wedding that was going to be done locally here in San Diego. It was a big party and I heard that it was going to be decorated with lots of flowers. At first, I thought they were going to use the local flower boutiques to decorate the venue. When I walked in to where the Bride and her Bridesmaid were getting ready, a few minutes later several boxes were dropped off and the Bride and the Officiant started opening them. I was totally surprised by the amount of flowers and all the Lei that they have brought out. The whole room was smelling heavenly. I felt like I was in Hawaii. Every flower arrangement and all the Lei was handmade and beautifully crafted. I wanted to share some images from that beautiful Wedding and I was glad and felt so honored I was invited to document the most joyous day that unfolded on the Bride's and Groom's Wedding day.
"A Mother's treasure is her daughter" I recently had the honor of photographing my friend Heather and her daughter Sophia in their lovely home. Heather and Roland have been good friends of mine ever since the early days when we were all working at the San Diego Marriott downtown. We had lots of laughs with some good memories while working together. These two were so nice to me, they helped me a lot especially during my first month learning everything all about the hotel and our department. I have watched these two fall in love, get married, and bring into the world the cutest & sweetest daughter any parent would wish for. We had lost touch a little, Heather left the Marriott, a few years later I left. Roland stayed behind for a little and then I got married and had children of my own. Even though we didn't hang out or see each other as often as before I never stopped thinking of them as "not my friends anymore." When I heard about the significant trial that these two were facing, I immediately contacted Heather and offered to take her Portrait. She is one of the most sweetest, kindest, & loving person that I have met. I wanted to give her this gift of pictures because pictures like these are the most priceless treasures a family can have. We should always take time to celebrate our life, count our blessings, never shy away from our own beauty. We must exist in photos. #glamourphotography #naturallight #naturalbeauty #existinphotos #suebrycestyle
As I was walking almost franticly this morning after dropping the kids off at school and trying to remember all the errands that I have to do this morning, there was something in the air that made me look up and appreciate how beautiful the morning was. The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky, well at least here in my part of town. Then I noticed the trees around our Condo, the small flowers right along the branches are starting to bloom. I thought to myself, Spring is coming.
Now I know a lot of people will disagree with me because according to the official calendars, Spring doesn't really start until around March. But for me, living in San Diego, it seems like Spring comes early than other parts of the Country. What does that mean, for me it's time for a lot more outdoor fun activities. I will be able to teach my oldest son to ride his bike without training wheels, teach my youngest how to pedal so he can ride his tricycle more. Maybe I will finally teach them how to fly a kite, and of course some Spring photos. I always try to celebrate different seasons with my wife and our children with pictures. Spring brings a different kind of light when you take some naturally lit photos. So get your cameras ready folks, "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." From my favorite movie of all time, Ferris B.
I find that the most beautiful women are the ones that are really shy to show how naturally beautiful they are. I have been trying to ask my friend Jenelle if I could take her portrait just for fun and she would always say that she is really shy and never wants to be the center of attention. Showing someone how beautiful they are does not mean to be the center of attention, I just want to share and show all women of all ages that they are more beautiful than they think. We all must exist in photos, not just for ourselves but for our loved ones as well. I feel like today's portraits are far more precious than before. We need to cherish and treasure them for it is the most precious gift that we can share to our loved ones.
I am really excited to share with everyone the highly anticipated keepsake that I will be offering to my new Wedding clients. An heirloom is very important to have especially for the newly formed family. For me, it is the one thing that I will always hold dear and share with my children to show them how blessed they are to have such loving parents. An Wedding Album is the one keepsake that we can go back and relive one of the happiest day of our lives.
For the longest time I have been struggling finding the right Album that will represent my style and the way I feel about my Wedding Clients. I want my Clients to have the best Wedding Photography experience but also I want them to have a Timeless Keepsake that they will proudly share from one generation to another. Introducing our 14 x 14 Top of the Line Album that is included in our Platinum Collection. Completely handmade, Flushmount Album, professionally printed in Metallic and coated for extra protection and durability with thick pages, and made with a durable square spine. Finally, it is delivered beautifully gift wrapped and boxed to give my Clients the most exquisite and timeless heirloom that they will keep forever.
"No one will ever love You like your Mother loves You." "A Mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world." "A Mother's heart is always with her children."
We have all heard about famous quotes about Mothers, their passion for taking care of their children, their sacrifices, and their love for her children.
My Mom has always been proud of who she is and where she came from. Grew up in a small town in Cavite, Philippines. My Mom has always taught me about working hard and being proud of your work as long as you do it diligently and conscientiously. Even though she never graduated College, she did her best to make her own family proud of what she has accomplished.
I had the chance this past weekend to Photograph my Mom and I wanted to put her on the spotlight just once. I also wanted to update some of her photos. The last time she had her photo taken was back in the 90s when Glamour Shots was really popular. She never likes to be the center of attention. But now that I have the power to capture real life and real emotions through Photography, I would like to stand tall and proudly show how strong and beautiful is my Mom.
On times when I don't have any Wedding clients or no one has booked me for a Portrait session, I have always turned to shooting dancers. For me, it is a way for me to go back to basics. To dig deep within myself and try to push my creativity and most times, I end up with a result that just makes my artist's soul float up high in the clouds.
I have met Angela a few years back through an Ad that I saw at a Casting Call website that I responded to do some photos for her Dance company. After that session, I saw how great and amazing her talent was for dancing. I have kept in contact with her and did some more shoots with her and we ended up creating some amazing images. A few of our friends said that the images that we did were like an amazing piece of art. Several months have passed we both got busy with our schedules from work and family. Then recently, I discovered that Angela have been blessed and is soon to have a child. She called me and have asked me to do some maternity portraits of her.
I always feel so privileged and proud to be a part of someone's life story and watch them grow to be better individuals on this earth. It is always an honor to be part of their life event and help them share their story and maybe inspire someone to help push for their goals and their dreams to make this place we call home a better one for our children. Angela, I know you will be a great Mom and I wish you all the best.
